Student CouncilThe purpose of the First Lutheran student council is to build Christian leaders among peers. The FLS student council is comprised of elected representatives from the sixth, seventh, and eighth grade classes. Representatives must maintain grade eligibility, have desire to serve, and show respect for peers, teachers, and themselves. This group plans many activities such as Red Ribbon Week, Fire Prevention Week, the Middle School Dance, the Annual Coat Drive, and multiple service projects. Many members of the FLS student council continue to serve on the Ponca City High School student council.
Student Activities
Weekly Chapel ServicesAnnual Students attend weekly chapel services at First Lutheran Church with Pastor Joseph Highley. Pastor Highley strives to reach each and every child with the Word of God with his Chapel message every week.
After School ActivitiesFirst Lutheran Youth (FLY) - We encourage our middle school students to participate in our Youth Group that meets every Wednesday evening.
After School SportsBasketball: The First Lutheran Cardinal Basketball Programs have a strong tradition of success. Beginning with 3rd/4th grade, we coach our student-athletes to find success while maintaining a Christ-like attitude and ensuring they achieve academic success first. The Cardinal basketball teams compete in multiple tournaments every season, and have competed in the National Lutheran Schools Tournament on multiple occasions.
Cheerleading: The First Lutheran Cheer Program offers the opportunity for team members to grow in confidence, enjoy a team atmosphere, and support their classmates. The cheer team also participates in multiple competitions throughout their season. First Lutheran also partnered with Ponca City Public Schools for the following sports to our 7th-8th grade students: Football, Golf, Tennis, Track and Volleyball. |
