PRINCIPAL - Mrs. Goll: Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, 1 Pet. 4:10. First Lutheran is blessed with many gifted, serving teachers; but today, I want to especially thank Twilla Berwaldt. Mrs. Berwaldt has gifted our technology program with her diligence, her intelligence, and her wisdom for the past five years. What a blessing her service has been! Now, due to changes in our community and in our church and school, she has graciously stepped down from her position. We will miss her greatly! The computer lab at school will continue to operate under the direction of Ann Ryan. We anticipate minimal changes in the overall computer schedule and curriculum. We keep Mrs. Berwaldt and her family in our hearts and our prayers. We’ve had a great week of spirit activities to begin our basketball season. Thanks, Cheerleaders, for leading us in these events. Go, Cardinals! We’re looking forward to hosting our grandparents next week. Grandparents in grades K to 8 are invited to come to the gym on Tuesday at 9:30 for an assembly. (Grandparents of younger students have a different schedule as provided by their teachers) After the assembly, students will go to their own classrooms and Grandparents will join them. We’ll have chapel at 11:15 followed by a meal in the cafeteria. Students will be dismissed after the meal—either with their Grandparents or from the classroom at 1:30. PLEASE BUY GRANDPARENT MEAL TICKETS BY THIS FRIDAY!

CHAPEL OFFERING: Yahoo! Cowboys! Once again OSU was victorious! Let's see what the Sooners can do this Friday! Cowboys, "Let's Finish the Race!" No matter who wins, we have done a great job of giving and it will make life a little easier for the hungry families in Ponca City! Bless you! Please encourage your grandparents to bring a can or two on Grandparents’ Day. That would double the amount of offerings and food that we have already collected. Happy Thanksgiving!

T-SHIRTS: If you ordered an x-small t-shirt and did not receive it because it was damaged please call or stop by the office. We have 2 shirts left and need to find their owners. Please call the office if you ordered an x-small and didn’t receive it. We also have a few extra t-shirts available for purchase. We have adult and children’s sizes available. Stop by the school office and pick one up today!

COOKIE DOUGH: We have extra cookie dough for sale at the regular price. The remaining flavors are as follows: Cranberry Oatmeal, Strawberry Shortcake, Peanut Butter, Triple Chocolate Chunk, Chocolate Chip, Carnival, Brownies Pretzels, Low Fat Chocolate Chip, and Oatmeal Raisin. Quantities are limited. Please see Mrs. Belzer if you are interested.

CUB SCOUTS: Cub Scouts will have a Pack Meeting on Monday, Nov. 25 in the cafeteria at 7 p.m. Please wear your uniform and bring your registration money if you have not yet.

BOOK FAIR: Trek on over to the book fair safari in the extra classroom of the elementary building. You will find some wonderful reading material and new books for our students. It is a good place to do some Christmas shopping. Any profit from the book fair goes to our school library. You also have the opportunity to make a purchase for a classroom from their wish list. The book fair is open after school until 5:30 so you may come with or without your young ones from child care. Remember to let the grandparents know that we are open on Grandparents' Day also.

ECE LIBRARY – Mrs. Schwanke: The "Safari Book" Fair is in progress. The children are excited about some of the books we saw advertised in our book fair video. Thanks to Barbara Mayer and Connie Erickson for setting it up last week and Cheryl Klein for taking this on each year. Please find time to visit the book fair before it leaves on Nov. 25th. Have a "Happy Thanksgiving"!

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Kelly: We are learning the letter "J" this week. We have been busy practicing our songs for Chapel and Grandparents’ Day. Thank you to Pastor Ramsey and Mrs. Goll for reading to our class for National Young Readers Day. Grandparents’ Day invitations are in backpacks today, I have not received all of the responses of how many grandparents will be attending, please get those back to me this week. We are looking forward to spending some time with our grandparents. Pre-School and Pre-K will be singing in chapel on Friday at 8:30, we would love to have you join us for chapel. If your child is in the Tuesday/Thursday class you may bring them to sing with us. The food drive continues through the end of November; bring your food to help replenish the food pantry. Have a great week!

PRE-KINDERGARTEN – Mrs. Grantz: Gobble! Gobble! from Pre-K! Yahoo Pokes! Once again OSU was victorious! Thanks for your help with food for Chapel offerings! Help us "Finish the Race" with your offering this Friday and encourage grandparents to bring a can or two on Grandparents day. We are ready for Grandparents’ Day! Invitations came home today. Thanks to the Homeroom Moms for making all the calls to others for refreshments. There have been a few questions about the lunch for grandparents. The lunch is for grades K-8th grades. Pre-K kids sing in Chapel this Friday. P.M. children are welcome to join us if you wish. Chapel is at 8:30 a.m. in the church. Plan to join us. Our last day of school will be Monday, Nov. 24th. I hope you have a blessed Thanksgiving with the ones you love! Happy Trails!

KINDERGARTEN - Ms. Miller: Our class would like to wish Alex and Katie a happy birthday on Saturday, Nov. 22nd. I would like to remind the parents that we will still be going outside even when it is cold, so please have your child wear a coat and put your child's name in it (thanks). Grandparents' Day will be on Tuesday, Nov. 25th in the gym at 9:30 am. Tickets for grandparent lunches are $4.00 at the school office. The invitations came home last week. If your child does not have a grandparent here they may invite an older friend or neighbor to be their grandparent for the day. Have an awesome week!

FIRST GRADE – Ms. Svajhart: I hope everyone is gearing up for Thanksgiving. I know we are all ready here in class. Remember Grandparents day is coming up fast. If you need meal tickets please give me the money or Kristi in the office. The weather is changing, please send a jacket with your child so they can stay warm when we go outside and run off some of our energy. Math: Please work with your child on their math facts flash cards. Reading: A Pet on a Jet is the book for this week. Memory: 'I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised.' Psalms 18:3.

SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: Happy Thanksgiving!  We are so blessed by our God who loves us so much!  Give thanks for His bountiful goodness.  (I am thankful for Jace, Korbyn, Shae, Kiersten, Mikhale, Bubba, Dixiana, Keely, Malachi, Trevor, Audrey, John, Carter and Hogan.)  We are very excited about Grandparents’ Day.  Be sure to get your grandparents’ lunch tickets by Thursday.   If possible, I’d like the children to wear something in patriotic colors for Grandparents’ Day.  Your family turkeys were great.  Thanks for your help.  We are making excellent reading progress.  Ask your child how many AR points they have and how many they need by December 19.  They may read at home and bring the books to school to test the next day.  Eat plenty, play hard, and rest well!  Enjoy your break and remember to GIVE THANKS!

THIRD GRADE - Mrs. Hunt: We are excited that Grandparents’ Day and Thanksgiving are next week. I hope everyone has invited someone to be their grandparent next Tuesday. We have been working hard on our part of the program. More of us are reaching or getting close to our AR goal. Please continue to encourage your child to read on their book level to be successful with the comprehension skills. Book reports for the month of November are due on Tuesday, Nov. 25. We will have our regular spelling, reading, and math tests on Friday of this week. Don't forget to visit the book fair and purchase some new books for reading. Be thankful in everything.

FOURTH GRADE - Mrs. Klein: Fourth graders have had a fun week leading up to the Pep Rally. Thank you to the cheerleaders! We are looking forward to Grandparents' Day next Tuesday. Remember to buy the lunch tickets for your grandparents by Nov. 20. We are continuing our food offering for chapel again this week. We filled our boxes last week. Thanks for being so generous! We seem to have a lot of tests this week so keep an eye on the planner. Several students have made their AR goals. Yeah! This becomes a good time to read something just for fun or to try a book at a little higher level to see how that goes. Happy birthday to Garrett (11-27). Remember during November and always to count your blessings.

FIFTH GRADE - Mrs. Schatte: We've had a lot of fun during Spirit Week. Thanks, Cheerleaders, for the variety of activities! Tests this week include(d): math test 10 and language yesterday, social studies test 4 tomorrow, and spelling and reading on Friday. Remember to preorder grandparents’ meal tickets for Grandparents’ Day on Tuesday. Happy Thanksgiving! Isn't our God wonderful?! What a joy it is to set aside a day just to be thankful. I am thankful to be working with your children this school year. They are a blessing to me.

Middle School Dance: Student Council is sponsoring a dance on November 21 at 6:30-9:00 pm. It will be a formal dance where students are asked to wear nice Sunday clothes. Boys need to wear slacks and collared shirts and girls may wear dresses or nice slacks with pretty sweaters or blouses. Only current FLS students are allowed to attend the dance. Sixth grade students are asked to bring a salty snack, seventh grade students are asked to bring a sweet snack, and eighth grade students are asked to bring drinks which could include water bottles. Hope you can come to the dance.

Mrs. Belzer: We are really working hard on the musical. Be sure to put it on your calendar to attend. Seventh grade is studying about the history of the earth a little bit and will have a quiz this Friday over what little we have covered. Eighth grade has completed a unit on forms of energy. The sixth grade will test today over motion. Wreaths have arrived and will be distributed today. Please be sure to get them delivered quickly so they can be properly taken care of. Be sure to remind your Grandparents to order their lunch tickets early. God's Blessings to Coach Watters and Coach Ramsey for their extra effort with the students during this BB season. We want to say goodbye to Mrs. Berwaldt. We really hate to see her go after all her contributions to this school. She will be sorely missed!! God's Blessing!!!!

Mrs. Harbeson: I hope you are enjoying the weather! The pep rally was great! I hope you were able to attend the basketball game and support our players! Way to go! Keep working on memorizing your Christmas program songs. We are looking forward to spending a day with our grandparents! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! Remember to give thanks to the One who makes all this possible...

Mrs. Ramsey: Spirit Week was a blast; the kids really participated enthusiastically. Next week is Thanksgiving already. I hope to see lots of grandparents with 7th graders on Tuesday. The Book Fair is up and running. This is a great time to get some Christmas presents in advance. Math tests over chapter 5 for all classes except 6th general math this Friday, so encourage your child to do some studying. If your student needs math help, I am always available during lunch recess and normally after school on Monday, Wednesday and Friday...I'm happy to do some one-on-one teaching if necessary. Have a blessed and safe Thanksgiving holiday. We certainly have an abundance of blessings from God! In His service...

Mr. Watters: 6th graders – The sixth graders have finished up their study on the Greeks and the Empire of Alexander. We have decided to give a little more focus to the Roman Empire and its importance, therefore our Chapter 13 test will move to the week after Thanksgiving. Overall I believe this group is doing quite well on their studies. 7th graders – Are currently on schedule and will have a test on either Friday or Monday it will be their choice. Essay #2 will be one on Tuesday this is on the Brazilian Economy. 8th graders are currently covering the Revolutionary War and will have a test on this material on Monday or Tuesday. Essay #2 will be due on Tuesday. This is a look at the bill of rights and which amendments they see as most important to them. Basketball is going well. We had our home opener last night against the Wichita Warriors and were victorious in both games. The girls took a hard fought 19-15 victory and the boys pulled away down the stretch to win 47-31. I urge everyone to come out and watch your Lutheran Cardinals in action. On a personal note, I would like people to pray for my family. My Mother fell and broke her hip and had successful surgery on Tuesday. My wife and I are the primary caregivers so we covet your prayers.
